Ethics Committee
The Ethics Committee is an independent body and conducts its activities based on the current legislation of Georgia, the Association’s charter, and professional ethics standards. The committee consists of at least five members, who are elected by the Association’s General Assembly for a term of three years. The candidates who receive more votes than others are considered elected. The Ethics Committee elects its chairperson from among its members by secret ballot, by a majority of its full membership, for a term of two years.
A candidate for membership in the Ethics Committee must be at least 30 years old and have at least five years of professional experience. A committee member may also be an associate member who has a high public reputation and is a recognized specialist in their field.
The competence of the Ethics Committee includes receiving, reviewing, and assessing information regarding possible violations among those engaged in brokerage activities, in cases where such actions may breach the standards of professional practice established by the Code of Ethics. The committee examines the circumstances presented and makes a decision on disciplinary responsibility only if a violation is confirmed.
A decision on the early termination of an Ethics Committee member’s authority is made by the General Assembly of the Association upon the President’s submission, which may be initiated by members of the Association or members of the Board of Directors. Grounds for early dismissal may include violation of requirements established by the Charter and/or Bylaws, loss of Association membership status for any reason, actions damaging to the reputation of the Association or any of its members (whether full or associate), as well as other circumstances specified by the Association's Bylaws and Georgian legislation.
